Another Aperitif Sauvignon Blanc

Before the pork, below, we sipped a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc that was new to us, The Ned Sauvignon Blanc 2010, Waihopai River which is from Marlborough where The Ned is the highest mountain. (Grapeguru has been up some mountains and 909 metres doesn’t impress, but there are special dispensations for winemakers.) It’s 13% alcohol and on offer from Majestic at a mere £5.99 if you buy at least two bottles – no hardship.

For once I can do no better than what it says on the label: ‘… bursting with citrus and capsicum flavours woven together by its juicy acidity.’ Yes, pretty much exactly. It makes a superb aperitif, but would also go well with seafood in Asian-fusion style – a treat to come when the weather gets warmer.
