The other night, with our garden producing more French beans than we can cope with, D produced an old favourite, stir-frying the beans Chinese style with strips of beef and serving with rice. This was the opportunity to sample some basic modern German Riesling, namely Devil’s Rock which I got a few weeks back at the co-op for £3.99 (really); it’s now listed at £6.25 (see my page on Price Points).
This Riesling is sharper than the Lehmann and substantially more so than the Kuentz-Bas, but still fresh and limey and it complements a straightforward Chinese-style meal very well. £6.25 is a bit steep, so buy it when it’s on offer.
